WTN: Arbor Hill Moscato

by Dan Smothergill » Sat Dec 09, 2017 4:30 am

Arbor Hill, located near the foot of Canandaigua Lake in the Finger Lakes, is known for resuscitating Labrusca grapes fallen out of fashion (Diana, Iona) and for new hybrids from the Cornell Experiment Station. This Moscato is made from 100% estate grown Valvin Muscat, a Cornell hybrid of Muscat Ottonell and Muscat du Moulin. The sugar is high (5.5% RS) but well balanced by acid. A touch of effervescence, characteristic of most Valvin Muscats, combines to make for a very pleasant tasting wine that can go with cheese as an apertif or with dessert. Won a Double Gold at the 2016 New York State Fair. $11.

Thanks, Dan - I may pick some up for the holidays.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
