2015 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (12/11/2017)
In a word, stunning. White peach, cherry, salty and stony elements are all suspended in a delicate matrix of acidity and sweetness that is lit from within. The elegance of this wine belies what has been a bit of a bruiser vintage, but that’s Dönnhoff plus Hermannshöhle. I could probably drink a 3L of this at one sitting, and wonder where it went. Just a fabulous wine.

Sounds lovely. Almost motivates me to go out and buy some Dönnhoff!

We just had a brief exchange on Disorder about the extent to which the 2015 off-dry German wines are shut down/so much less expressive these days. I had stopped drinking but it sounds like this was worth the corkpull. (No doubt helped by extra plumpness in comparison to the Saar/Ruwer where I usually hang out)

Nahe & Rheingau seem fine. I can imagine the typically leaner Saar might close down sooner.
