I enjoy looking at Doug Hillstrom's site and he sure does review a lot of Finger Lakes wines, many from places that are pretty obscure. That is an interesting take on the yearly 'best of' lists, in that those aren't necessarily the best wines from the region but each represents a certain trend or direction.
Also interesting to me is the price producers are asking for Saparavi wines. Many years ago I worked the crush at a FL winery with a couple rows of Saparavi. The people there told me it wasn't difficult to work with, and the grapes we picked that year were healthy and ripe, despite a poor growing season. At that time, the Saparavi wound in an inexpensive red blend, because they didn't think it would sell on its own, but now is see it is being sold at $30+ per bottle!
