WTN: 1994 De Vogue Musigny Vielles Vignes

by Paul Winalski » Tue Dec 26, 2017 4:42 pm

I served this with Christmas dinner--coq au vin.

This is an absolutely astounding wine.and a classic example of grand cru Burgundy at its best. Its deep brick-red color, complex fragrance, powerful yet graceful flavors, and long finish are why pinot noir is a famous grape. This wine is fully mature and utterly delicious now, but there is no hurry to drink it up.

Triple Curly with an extra Woo-Woo-Woo.

Nice to see such a positive note on such a maligned vintage.
I haven't had a '94 in a while,but had a few I thought showed quite well a few years ago (Lafarge Ducs I thnk)

Yes, lots of rain and rot in 1994. But Cote de Nuits growers who waited out the rain did well.
