WTN: Closing the gap

2015 Wind Gap Wines Syrah Sonoma Coast - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (12/27/2017)
This is an impressive version of the Sonoma Coast Syrah. Because of low yields, it does include fruit from sites that are typically released on their own. Purple hued, and black fruited, there is a meaty, saline core. The mid palate adds warm, herbal tones, and the finish has a healthy dose of tannin, as well as a touch of bitterness, similar to biting down on berry seeds. I am very pleased to have bought enough to follow this wine for several years.
