Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova Brunello 2001

Am I a sucker?

My friend bought me a subsciption to Wine Spectator for Christmas, and I was reading about their #1 wine for 2006 and was totally taken in by the description. I do like sangiaovese and have always wanted to try a brunello, so I ordered two bottles at $110 each plus shipping.

I'll obviously hang onto them for a while, but I'm wondering if I was somewhat naiive in trusting the opinion of the publication? Thoughts?

Well.....I commited infanticide on one bottle of these wines last summer. I bought mine well before the mania, so I think I paid $60 or so. I thought the wine was nice, a solid ***+

$110 delicious? Probably not.

Would hold them at least until 2011 if not 2016. Maybe open one early (2011) to checky check.
