2013 Pian dell'Orino Rosso di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino (1/2/2018)
This is a slicker, more modern-styled wine than I usually go for, but it did very well for an uncomplicated Tuesday night drink. Ripe red fruit, oak spice, and some herbal touches are well balanced by acidity and light tannins. The alcohol is reasonably well hidden, especially at cool room temperature, and it works with food, where the acids balance richness.
