WTN: 2011 Sonoma Cab.

2011 Liquid Sky Sonoma Cabernet: I have had this wine many times now and if this is my last bottle...boo hoo! Not a big fan of Sonoma Cabernets but this wine is the exception (other than wines like Verite...very expensive). abv of %14.9 and full of black currant and herb in equal parts plus a good bit of spice... I wish I had a few cases of this wine as it is just now approaching its plateau of maturity and might turn out to be exceptional in a few years. I am starting to believe that 2011 Napa/Sonoma cabs are undeserving of a semi-poor reputation but just needed more time in bottle.

Just like (some) 1998s*.

* Unless one grows the cab in the cooler part of the RRV (Olivet Lane), then they may indeed be too under-ripe to taste good.

Why grow Cab there? It's fine Pinot territory.

Stubborn?

In good years, though, it is fine Cabernet territory, too! At least in the hands of Bella Terra!
