2006 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Spätlese Re-visit

  • 2006 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (1/11/2018)
Nice development over the last 10 years on a great value wine. The biggest difference it showed was the evolution of the nose. Aromatics are now jumping out of the glass. Pears, candied pears, apples and flowers. The flavors are pears, apple juice, a touch of honey and finishing with some pineapple. The wine is very enjoyable. Could use more acidity but at the moment I don't mind that it shows slightly flabby. It is just so darn tasty. (91 pts.)

From 2008:
Sunday, July 6, 2008 - Had over a few nights. Kept hoping the aromatics would wake up but they stayed in the background. At this stage the wine is plain simple. A bit like pear juice spiked with a splash of pineapple juice. The sweetness was not cloying which kept it enjoyable but it showed no complexity. Time will tell.

Cheers,

Jason

Nice so thanks. Last night I had a 2015 Selbach-Oster Halbtrocken Zeltinger Himmelreich.

The Juffer wines are often undervalued.
