WTN: Boxler Edelzwicker

by Patchen Markell » Wed Jan 17, 2018 5:27 pm

I think I said in a recent thread that I rarely buy wine from Alsace anymore. Granted, I also rarely see much of it for sale in my usual haunts. So when the Albert Boxler 2014 Alsace Edelzwicker turned up, I grabbed a bottle, and wasn't disappointed. A very nice balance of floral, spice, and mineral elements, tending, indeed, toward savory flavors that led me to expect dryness, but with a touch of RS, which worked well with the meal (beef with broccoli, heavy on five spice and ginger). Bright, zippy, and rich all at the same time, and totally swiggable, so we swug. No idea what the blend was, but I wish I had more.
cheers, Patchen

When I see Boxler locally (rare, but it happens) I buy it. Lovely stuff up and down the range.

Yes, like David I buy Boxler when I see it, which isn't often. I've like the Edelzwicker in the past, and comparatively reasonable
