WTN: Lucchetti Lacrima Guardengo '15...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Feb 15, 2018 12:49 pm

Tried last night as a mystery wine:
1. Lucchetti Guardengo DOC: Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Superiore (14%; www.Massanois; www.mariolucchetti.it/en_US/) Morro d'Alba/AN/Marche 2015: Very dark/near black color; intense classic Lacrima blackberry/black cherry cola some earthy/dusty/mineral/graphite some complex nose; some tart/tangy intense black cherry cola/blackberry/DrPepper/boysenberry/ripe some earthy/dusty/mineral fairly complex flavor w/ ample tangy/crunchy tannins; very long/lingering
bit tart/tangy structured intense Lacrima/black cherry cola/blackberry/DrPepper fairly dusty/OV/mineral some complex finish; needs 3-6 yrs of age (as if I know anything about how Lacrimas age....zero experience); one of the best Lacrimas I can recall. $18.00 (WineBazaar)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The Guardengo is their higher-end Lacrima harvested in late Oct from vines that average 40 yrs of age. Frmtd in SS and aged 6 mo. in cement tanks.
A month ago, I had the Lucchetti Lacrima Passito and was blown away by it. A few days ago, I had their Visciola and was blown away by it, best Visciola I've yet tried. Thought this was probably the best Lacrima I've yet tried. Amazingly good. Now my favorite producer in LaMorra. As if anyone gives a rat's-a$$ about Lacrima di Morra d'Alba wines.
