WTN: Pathetic Napa Bordeaux Blend

by Jim Grow » Sat Feb 24, 2018 9:30 pm

2011 Eagles Trace Latitude 38 "Latitude 38 is the culmination of all those years of winemaking by producing a true Bordeaux-style blend using Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and incorporating the richness and bright fruit we are able to grow here in the Napa valley". This quote on the back label of Gus Anderson's wine from Conn Valley is total BS. This wine was so green and vegetal that it should have been sold off for jug wine or dried on straw for an Amarone-style wine. My last of 4 or 6 bottles, thank God. I have had many fine cabs from CVV but this was poor and just barely drinkable although I suffered thur it. If I had known it was %12.8 abv I would have passed buying it on the net. Earlier bottles were better but still disappointing and now I know this wine is not improving. To claim it was purposely make in a Bordeaux style is to insult the Bordeaux region.
