Shared this dinner wine w/ John ystrday:
1. Cantine del Castello di Castellengo DOC: Coste della Sesia Nebbiolo (13.5%; L.C2010; www.CentoVigne.It)
Centovigne 2010
: Med.dark color suspiciously; fairly strong floral/violets/lilacs/Nebb fairly earthy/dusty slight pungent tarry classic Nebb some complex perfumed quite attractive/rich nose; quite tart/tannic bit hard/tannic/astringent strong grapey/floral/lilacs/violets/Nebb rather dusty/OV/earthy slight road tar flavor w/ ample hard/crunchy tannins; very long/lingering pretty tart/acidic/tangy strong grapey/floral/lilacs/violets/Nebb some earthy/dusty/OV slight pungent/tarry rather hard/austere/tannic finish w/ ample hard/crunchy tannins; on the floral side of Nebb but suspiciously rich for pure Nebb; quite a big Nebb that needs more age. $40.00 (EVN)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This wine came from Enoteca Vino Nostro, the VanNess retail outlet for the ToscoImports wines. Here in the AltoPiemonte, near Gattinara, it is often done to blend a bit of Croatina/Vespolina into the Nebb. Because of the color and texture of this wine, I don't think it was pure Nebbiolo.
