Cracked another rose last night to go with my bacon/cheese strata:
1. Bedrock Ode to Lulu Calif OldVine Rose (plntd: 1888-1922; www.BedrockWineCo.com; 75% Mataro/25% Grenache; 12.3%) Sonoma 2017: Very pale copper/salmon/slight orange color; rather fragrant cranberry/strawberry/spicy some earthy/herbal bit sauvage/rustic/austere quite attractive/interesting nose; fairly tart/tangy some earthy/herbal/rustic/bit garrigue light strawberry/cranberry/spicy bit lean/austere flavor; very long fairly tart/tangy bit earthy/rustic light cranberry/strawberry/spicy slight cinammon finish; a bit on the earthy/rustic side but pretty good resemblance to a Bandol Rose; another lip-smackin' rose. $19.00

1. From the age of the vines, I'm guessing the Mataro came from Evangelo's/ContraCosta and the Grenache from GibsonRanch/Mendocino.
Two roses in two nights. Both have been very/very good and more interesting than most roses by avoiding the tutti-fruti territory. I slightly preferred the Ryme for being more high-toned and juicy. But the Lulu was more interesting.
