2014 Paul Bertrand Cahors Crocus
PnP'd. Deceptively smooth and silky tannins, to the extent any showed at all, in this black wine with a bit of chalk and dark chocolate. Not much fruit. Tried to drink a glass, but I got bored. Recorked and ignored the bottle, then, presuming it would end up in the vinegar pile. Over the course of eight days, though, SLOWLY, layers of loam and black currant developed, and the last taste was in fact interesting. Impressive and unexpected, if glacially-paced. Not sure I've ever had a wine so dull that ended up showing so much promise for longevity. (Obviously, I'm not an experienced Cahors drinker.)
Btw, this wine is a Paul Hobbs project. He sure gets around!
