Tried these two last night at dinner:
1. OjaiVnyd Viognier RollRanchVnyd/VenturaCnty (13.5%; www.OjaiVineyard.com) Oakview 2013: Med.yellow color; attractive/fragrant ripe pear/peach/Viog light chalky/mineral/perfumed talc bright/brisk/savory nose; quite tart/tangy/bit lean bright/ripe pear/peach/Viog some stony/mineral/chalky flavor; long ripe pear/peach/Viog rather tart/lean bit chalky/perfumed talc/stony finish; a Viog way far away from DollyParton territory; pretty pear/Viog character; reminds a lot of some Colline Rhodannies Viog but not the lean/eviscerated character of Pays d'Oc Viog; no signs of oxidation a may become very interesting in 5-10 yrs...or maybe not.

2. Dom.Richou les Chateliers AOC: Anjou Gaamay (13%; www.Vintage59.com; www.DomaineRichou.fr/) Damien & Didier Richou/Moze sur Louet 2015: Med.dark color; strong Gamay/blackberry/spicy/herbal/thyme fairly earthy/loamy/Loire red quite interesting nose; quite tart/tangy some lean/metallic fairly strong Gamay/blackberry/boysenberry/ripe rather earthy/loamy bit herbal/thyme flavor w/ modest tangy tannins; very long strong ripe/blackberry/Gamay some earthy/loamy/stony/savory finish w/ some crunchy/tangy tannins; definitely not Beauj GC but more like a BrickHouse OR Gamay w/o the oak, or an Martin Woods OR Gamay; really a delicious/savary Gamay at a very attractive price. $16.00 (Prima/IlC)
