Shared this w/ John ystrday from my latest Ridge ATP shipment:
1. Ridge Zin BuchignaniRanch/AlexVlly/SonomaCnty (88% Zin/12% Carignane; 14.4%; 45 brls; bttld 12/14;
Top/House blocks; Drk: 9/14-9/19-9/20: JO) 2013
: Very dark color; very strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/licorice/very spicy qute dusty/OV very light vanilla/smokey/Am.oak some peppery/minty bit complex lovely nose; fairly tart blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/quite spicy rather dusty/OV light vanilla/Ridge oak some complex/peppery flavor w/ light bit brisk tannins; lightly tart very strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/very spicy some dusty/OV light Ridge oak/vanilla some peppery/minty balanced complex finish w/ light smooth tannins; loads of blackberry fruit and moore RRV Zin than DryCreek w/ a modest oak level; maybe the best Buchignani Zin yet and one of the better ATP Zins; almost at the level of the LyttonSprings but not quite the structure; a really lovely Ridge Zin characterized by a lower level of oak than most. $33.00 (ATP)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I usually find the Ridge ATP wines good, but just that. This Buchignani rose well above the level of most ATP wines. And I actually liked the recent Buchignani Carignane better than most. Maybe Buchignani is more special than I once thought.
