That Dreaded T-Word Again....

by TomHill » Mon May 14, 2018 1:01 pm

Interesting & thoughtful & thought-provoking article by Fred Swan on GuildSomm:
FredSwan/Terroir

I think his analogy of terroir w/ walking thru a forest is particularly apt. He talks a lot about how various winemakers go about best expressing the terroir of a particular vnyd.

I like his conclusion:
Fred wrote:There is no single way to best express the terroir of any vineyard. No wine is a concrete expression that tells the whole story. And, even if this were the ideal, it would impossible for multiple winemakers to reflect terroir in exactly the same way.

Yoikes....I'm throwing up my hands in ever understanding terroir. Way above my pay-grade...I ain't a rocket scientist, after all.
