Galloni on Wines of Friuli

Very good summary on the wines of Friuli by Antonio, as linked in WineTerroirist:
Galloni/Friuli

Not a profound article, but a very good summary.

He opines that he regards Tazzalenghe as the regions best red wine. Too bad it's so rare.

And he regards Verduzzo as making better dessert wines than Picolit. After trying the Ronchi di Pietro Picolit, not sure I'd agree.

Anyway...a good read.

There was a time in the '00s when I did a fair amount of travel in Friuli, and I'm with you, Tom. A good Picolit isn't easy to beat in the sweet-wine department. I don't know how much that's changed over the past decade, and there's nothing wrong with Verduzzo, but I'm skeptical.
