2011 Evening Land Seven Springs pinot noir
Last night I made an Italy-by-way-of-China stir fry of veal scallopini strips, shitake mushrooms and leeks in a marsala wine sauce which I served over tagliatelle, for which a great match would have been a light nebbiolo. Lacking one, I chose this. A perfect stand-in! Light bodied due to the vintage, bright acidity and minimalist cherry notes carry the flavors along with a some forest and fungal notes.
