2010 ALYSIAN PINOT NOIR HALLBERG VINEYARD CROSSROADS. RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY, CA.
Floodgate Vineyard has been one my favorite grape sources for Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley but this wine from Hallberg Vineyard Crossroads rivals the Floodgate Vineyard Pinot Noir Rock Hill from the same vintage.
The cork broke in two but didn't leave many cork crumbs in the wine.
Either the grapes were very ripe or the winemaker extracted lots of flavor--not the style for everyone, but I found it very attractive. This had a brightness to its persona.
I had it with broiled strip steak and baked potato with toppings. A tossed salad was eaten without wine accompaniment.

2010 ALYSIAN PINOT NOIR FLOODGATE VINEYARD ROCK HILL. RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY, CA. 13.3% abv.
This is a deep scarlet color with fading at the rim, and is nearly opaque. It has freshness on nose and palate but also a suggestion of medium aging. It may be at its peak. Fruit notes include raspberry and possibly boysenberry. It is smooth-drinking, lip-licking and not very high in alcohol. This wine can be enjoyed either slightly chilled or at room temperature.
