2012 Domaine Fernand Engel Pinot Blanc Reserve Alsace
Opened to honor the memory of Anthony Bourdain who died not far from where this was made. It was worthy. Great concentration without heaviness. It has shed the sweetness the last CT reviewer noted in 2014 and is elegantly dry and layered. Has the balance and structure for continued cellaring--no signs of maturity. Would drink many more pinot blancs if they were all like this. 93-94 pts easy for the wine, 100 for the occasion.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
