2011 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (6/12/2018)
This was a singleton I picked up after I had already received my main allocation. So I figured what the heck, why not try it. The 2011 Asili had been reasonably forward when first release, so maybe there was reason to hope for a friendly performance.
Well it was not a good time to open it. Even with a couple of hours of air the wine stayed fairly blocky, though not forbiddingly tannic. The depth was very good, the wine showed density in the mouth, just not much in the way of detail.
Steer clear for a few years. There is good material here.
