WTN: Two Eleven

Okay, so is 2011 really bad, or rrreally bad for red Burgundy? Just dying to find out. So let's open those bottles and find out.

Ooo, pyrazines and bugs on the nose...2011 in spades, revelaing a dark, leafy wine. The green notes do not blow off, and though the wine feels youthful, I doubt it gets any better. Coq au vin, anyone? B

There is a subtle note of the 2011 savoriness, with racy red fruits and some hard candy on the finish with cherry-pomegranate flavors. Light and fresh, I think this can go the short distance (8-10 years more). A-

I have exactly one bottle of 2011 Burgundy is the cellar.

Unfortunately it is a wildly expensive one.

Hopefully it's a good one!

After looking at some CT notes about 2011's I have, I figure it is a good time to look in on them. Can't believe I have over 2 cases!

I went through a sort of Burgundy dead period from 2011-2013. Grand total of two combined cases from the three years.

Now 2014-2015 is another story.

2011 isn't great or profound, but I drank plenty of fun wines that made for good early drinking. I think d'Angerville did very well in 2011.

I've got six bottles of the same 2011--a Grand Cru I couldn't resist for $35 ea under the Evening Land (guy who bought the Seven Springs vineyard in Oregon) label. For the price, seemed a decent risk.
