WTN: 2004 ESJ Shell and Bone

by Patchen Markell » Wed Jun 20, 2018 2:48 pm

Edmunds St. John 2004 Paso Robles White Wine, "Shell and Bone." Intensely flavored, and balanced nicely between rich roundness and angularity, with a little wax and even petrol, a lot of salinity, and a spicy finish. This is definitely a touch more advanced than the bottle we enjoyed about a year ago, but not fundamentally different, nor any less enjoyable. I'm not sure I would plan to hold any remaining bottles too much longer -- this seems to be a really perfect spot.
cheers, Patchen

nice to hear that wine's still got legs, Patchen; the Roussanne from Tablas' grapes is the backbone of that wine, and, no doubt, the main energy source.
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...
