by TomHill » Tue Jul 17, 2018 11:52 am

Had this last night w/ dinner:
1. OjaiVnyd Syrah HenryDaniel SBC (75% ThompsonVnyd/25% BienNacidoVnyd; 15.5%) Oakview 1997: Cork very loose and starts to fall in even under a wax seal; med.dark color w/ some bricking; very strong blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/ripe/spicy some c-c/peppery light toasty/Ojai oak fairly mature SBC Syrah complex lovely nose; lightly tart slight metallic/aged strong spicy/blackberry/Syrah/bit boysenberry/ripe some smokey/toasty/Ojai oak complex flavor w/ light smooth/gentle/slightly drying tannins; very long/lingering bit tart/drying/metallic strong blackberry/Syrah/ripe/peppery/spicy some Ojai oak/smokey bit c-c/peppery slight drying mature SBC Syrah complex finish w/ light smooth/gentle tannins; a really lovely fully mature SBC Syrah classic Ojai complex wine; no signs of alcoholic heat or overripeness; maybe 5 yrs or so beyond its prime and shows a little drying but still offers up a lot of pleasure.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This was a straight P&P. This morning, the wines seemed pretty tired & dried out w/ my morning Capn'Crunch.
