For the record, no wine critic has never offered the blanket argument that expensive wines are better than cheaper bottles. But I have, many times, argued that $15 to $20 bottles are often better values than $10 bottles.


I have brought up the exact same thing with people who complain that a bottle of good wine is "too expensive." It becomes a rather uncomfortable conversation when I ask if their $9/12 oz. can of microbrew is "too expensive" for a single drink.
