WTN: German wines too sweet for you? Try this one.

2015 Weiser-Künstler Riesling feinherb - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (7/19/2018)
Fantastic balance in a barely off dry Riesling. While it’s a little more full bodied than a classical Kabinett, it fills that niche very nicely, with crunchy apple and lime fruit and a firm mineral backbone. It finishes completely dry. Great drinking now and for any number of years.

Sounds good. And I'm sure 2015 helped give it a bit of body.

On the sweetness issue, I must say that after years of being a hardcore evangelist for the off-dry German rieslings, I may have to admit to myself that I'm less enamored with them right now. For the past few years I have been drinking very few, and mostly Falkenstein which is pretty close to dry anyway.

I decided to get reacquainted and I've been trying a bunch of the more classic middle Mosel wines these past weeks from some of my favorite names, and they just don't pop the way they used to for me. I find myself craving the aromas and textures of the dry wines.

Oh well, not a huge deal. There's plenty of wine of all kinds for everyone!
