Leitz go to the Rheingau!

TN: 2012 Weingut Josef Leitz Rudesheimer Kirchenpfad Riesling Kabinett feinherb.

Cellared 3 yrs, SC, 13% alc, $24 Cdn. AP# 015-13.

The Leitz wines are readily available downtown and the store owner has just returned from the area with glowing reports on a new tasting room.

Pale lemon with greenish tint. Aroma of apricot, minerality, some ripe fruit, no gasolein. " Lemon and apple " from across the patio. Initial entry thought is slight spritz, good acidity, lengthy. Some nice residual sugar with peach and citrus. Not that sweet however, but could be "more generous in fruit flavors". I always enjoy my Leitz so keen to see when the new arrivals turn up in town.

Always an interesting reaction, and I know it well given my predilection towards northerly sour wines. Just when you think it's going to turn the corner into generous succulence, it stops short!

Feinherb should likely never get to succulence.
Decisions are made by those who show up
