WTN: Stella! STEL-LA!

by Jenise » Sat Aug 11, 2018 1:02 pm

2012 LaStella Cabernet Sauvignon La Sophia Okanagan Valley
A really sad case of 'grabbed the wrong bottle' (this was a $91 bottle)--we had guests, it was dark and late.... Serious density, fruit and tannins, the type of 1st growth aspirations (for BC, at any rate). Realized the mistake as soon as I pulled the cork and set it aside, then tasted it on days 2, 4 and 7. Massive blackberry fruit, good tobacco and spice, very concentrated. Conclusion: it's a great wine with a long future ahead--might peak about 2030. The tannins, fruit and acidity needed for the long haul are all there in balance--it just needs a lot more time.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Can you really keep this up? Mr. Williams would be proud of you. Did you once teach American literature?

Jenise, you're killing me. I'm too old/tired and drunk (slightly) to compete.
