Grape Theft in Virginia...

Wow....2.5 tons of grapes stolen overnight in VA:
GrapeTheft
It sorta boggles the mine. Ohhhhh...wait...this is the WaPo...fake news we've been told.

I feel badly for the guy to have his entire yrs work wiped out.

Reminds me of the time a few yrs ago when somebody came into the RicciVnyd/Carneros overnight and cleaned off the StLaurent crop that was to go to MattRorick. I bet the theives were a bit puzzled when the wine didn't taste much like PinotNoir.

Feel bad for family.
As others noted elsewhere, hard to figure out why a crew of people would do this for Virginia mountain hybrid grapes.
It might be worth $50,000 in their minds*, but if you could find a winery that wanted those grapes (doubtful),average wholesale is $1500/ton, so more like $3-4K. As buyers would have to know stolen, thieves would be lucky to get $1K. total .
