Tennessee - Home of World's Best Wine List

by Peter May » Sat Sep 15, 2018 1:23 pm

London (September 12, 2018) – the World’s Best Wine Lists in association with Gaggenau have been announced today at the Vintners’ Hall, with The Barn at Blackberry Farm, Walland Tennessee, receiving the honor of Wine List of the Year, Best Designed Wine List in the World, Best Long Wine List in the World and Champions’ League World’s Best Wine List 2018.

Winner details here http://www.worldoffinewine.com/subject/ ... listawards

Blackberry Farm Barn's wine list is here
http://www.blackberryfarm.com/pdfs/2018 ... e_List.pdf

222 pages and each wine shows it's vintage. If these guys can do it for 222 pages how come restuarants with one or two pages can't?

Very impressive wine list......one wine that jumped out at me was the 2002 Pegau......a very disappointing wine that should never have been released

They are sitting on a fairly large inventory of vintages they will never be able to sell. Lots of 2003 European wines, 2002s from Austria (some good wines made, but the vintage rep is horrendous), etc.
Decisions are made by those who show up

BF has long been famous as a culinary and vinuous destination. Just above my $$$ level.
Was big on farm to table before it became a buzzword
There are some wines I'd avoid there, but plenty of good stuff to choose from, and some decent deals in non-trophy stuff
Trophy stuff is typical pricey resort markups
But some of the PremOx era white burg prices aren't too bad, and if oxidized sure you wouldn't have to take it
