A Preston Family "Mistake" and Laurel Glen!

2015 Preston Family "We'll Never Do That Again". Grenache Blanc....but they thought they were buying Grenache Noir cuttings!

Anyway....very appealing apple, chalky, stony, plenty of acid but also some richness. Cut through my friends' amazing lasagna with corn, cream, roast chicken, and pomegranate. A lucky and classic wine-food pairing.

2016 Laurel Glen "Blank Slate" Sauvignon Blanc (Russian River Valley). A totally atypical SB. Sees a little bit of oak aging, but definitely not oaky. Instead, there is a distinctive "pineapple" character to this fruit that I have never quite seen elsewhere. No cat pee. Not really herbal. Not heavy or rich at all, bright like a SB should be. Instead, there is that bright, verging on sweet pineapple. Actually made a very good "desert" wine for watching the final episode of the amazingly creepy HBO show "Sharp Objects"
