WTN: A White & a Red...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Wed Oct 24, 2018 10:04 am

Had these two w/ dinner last night:
1. Harrington MuscatCanelli FratelliVnyd/SantaClaraVlly (12.7%) 2012: Light gold color; very strong muscatty/dandelions/floral/cheap hair oil/Vitalis quite perfumey nose; fairly tart/tangy strong muscatty/floral fairly dry rather rich/lush slight steely/metallic flavor; very long strong muscatty/floral/dandelions/perfumey fairly tart/tangy/bit metallic close to dry fairly rich/lush finish; very strong muscatty character but a bit one-dimensional like many Muscats rather like an Alsatian Muscat but richer/lusher and not the bitterness they can sometimes show; just another pretty face that you're not inclined to discuss Quantuum ElectroDynamics with. $25.00

2. Novy Syrah SierraMarVnyd/SantaLuciaHighlands (14.1%) 2010: Med.dark color w/ no bricking; very strong ripe/boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah bit licorice/pungent/plummy light toasty/oak rather spicy/bit herbal quite attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy/bit grapefruity slight metallic/drying very strong boysenberry/ripe/blackberry/Syrah/plummy some toasty/smokey/oak bit herbal/rosemary/pungent flavor w/ light ripe/metallic tannins; very long strong boysenberry/blackberry/Syrah/ripe some toasty/oak rather sharp/metallic/tangy bit herbal/thyme finish w/ light tangy tannins; loads of classic SLH Syrah/herbal fruit but starting to show that metallic tanginess of a ripe Syrah on the decline; drink up. $16.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The Harrington had barely changed since I first had it in April 2013. Maybe not quite as intense in aromatics, but still just pure Muscat character.
