WTN: I'm just trying to find the Brücke

2002 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (11/8/2018)
If you are wondering when to drink this wine, now is a great time! For my taste this is in a near-perfect spot for Riesling Spätlese, as there is still a full ration of fruit, accompanied by smoky & leafy (forest floor) notes that drive the complexity to another level. The foundation stony depth of Brücke is there in full on the palate, supporting pear, peach, and pineapple upside down cake (!) flavors that have developed a tiny bit of a burnished patina from age. The balance is impeccable, and there's a fresh zing of acidity that creeps in on the finish. This is not a wine for the acid-crazed, but rather one that displays both the visceral pleasure and intellectual engagement of great Riesling.

The 2008 of this was extraordinary back in February.
