WTN: 2002 Dönnhoff Dellchen Spätlese

2002 Dönnhoff Norheimer Dellchen Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (11/19/2018)
I am working my way through the six different 2002 Dönnhoff Spätlesen, and tonight it’s the Norheimer Dellchen. One sip, and I immediately think “bass.” This is a powerful, low toned, densely packed wine. Even sixteen years post harvest it remains dark and powerful. It’s a window to a serious soil, that commands attention. Summing it up in one word brings me to “impressive.”

Thanks for notes. Do you think of Dellchen as a bigger wine in general than other Donnhoffs?

Perhaps “darker” would sum it up. Dellchen has always seemed stern to me.
