2014 Château Malescot St. Exupéry - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux (12/10/2018)
Compelling wine that is clearly Bordeaux and clearly Margaux. It’s a touch modern, with a bit more oak than classicists (e.g. me) prefer, but not so much as to obscure the excellent cassis and black cherry fruit. The mid palate is well proportioned, and the finish does not betray an overt vanilla/oaky tone, so for my palate it’s a lovely Bordeaux, from a vintage that rewards drinkers rather than speculators. Drink now, or hold for fifteen years.
