Would anyone miss the WLDG.com shortcut?

by Robin Garr » Wed Dec 12, 2018 10:26 am

As opposed to bookmarking forums.wineloverspage.com/viewforum.php? We set it up originally to allow a quick and easy typing shortcut, but doesn't everyone use bookmarks? The reason I ask, it's a small but continuing expense, and the money people have asked if they can put it to sleep.

I wouldn't miss it. I bookmark as you describe, and didn't know wldg.com existed.

But I always think of, and refer to, the forum as WLDG. So I would continue to keep those 4 letters on the home page, and in keywords etc - so google can find it.

Good idea, Steve! You made me look, gulp, but happily, the acronym is scattered around the place in sufficient numbers for Google to find without so many that they decide we're trying to scam them. :)

yes, I just bookmark (and if on a new device usually just google WLDG or wine Robin Garr rather than try to remember an url)
so save the expense!

I guess it goes back to the early days of the phpBBS forum structure. There was definitely a demand for it at one point, enough to justify buying and setting up the domain, which exists only to be pointed to this one.

I had no idea. Save yourself some cash and buy more Cotes du Rhone!

I'd miss it. I use it when on a machine I don't own. But should you lose money over it? I don't think so, but there should be records of how many hits wldg.com gets.

Sorry, Peter. :( However, you could probably cut a number of keystrokes by simply going to wineloverspage.com and then hit the Wine Lovers Discussion Group button near the top of the page.
