WTN: Stunning Pax Syrah

by David M. Bueker » Thu Jan 24, 2019 7:00 pm

2010 Pax Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (1/23/2019)
Pop, pour and stunned. Smoke, meat, salty, bacony elements all came through in spades. Essences of Syrah did reveal dark berry fruit, but the savory elements were the focus (and remained the focus 24 hours later). Balanced, savory and long on the palate, firm tannins backed up the fruit, promising years of further development, but sadly this was my last bottle.

Pax Mahle really is a wizard with Syrah.

I had a 2004 of that. Great wine. Captured all the meaty qualities of syrah without the green olive part which I do like but can tire of easily.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
