Opened last night to pair with steak and asparagus:
1996 Gruaud Larose, St. Julien
Initially flat and characterless but a mere hour of decanting brought everything to life. Lively black and red fruits, graphite, raw cigar tobacco, a touch of Constant Comment and enough weight to question whether it's St. J or Paulliac. This bottle suggests plenty of life ahead for my remaining two bottles.
