It's National Wine Day!

by Robin Garr » Sat May 25, 2019 11:12 am

I'm not sure who declared May 25 National Wine Day, but it's trending on Twitter with 3,019 hashtag #NationalWineDay tweets already at this early hour.

For most of us, I assume that every day is National Wine Day. But what the heck, we might as well celebrate.

National Wine Day seems a little unambitious.

It was International Chardonnay Day on the 25th. And, no, I didn't...

Also a bit presumptuous, like our "World" Series.

So it celebrates stuff like "Vin de France" and "Deutscher Landwein"? It's always best to avoid wines from more country, but I prefer ones with even more local character.

Given that it was the World Series before there was meaningful baseball anywhere else, there was nothing presumptuous about it.

I'll bet I had you all beat for celebration--not that I knew until this morning that yesterday was National Wine Day, nor do I pay attention to such idiocies, but let's pretend otherwise--I got to taste 5 vintages each of Mount Eden chardonnay, pinot noir and cabernet with winemaker/proprietor Jeffrey Patterson. Didn't suck.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Fair enough, but in modern times, a lot of people in other countries around the world now think we're jackasses for calling it that. I won't judge the accuracy of this charge.

We’re supposed to care what they think why? It’s baseball.

The Cricket World Cup is played by a bunch of former British colonies. With the exception of a couple of Danes, the Badminton World Championship is exclusively Asian players.

Anyway, Jenise beat the crap out of my bottle of 2013 Wind Gap Pinot Noir.
