WTN: 2001 Campion Pinot Noir Los Carneros California.

2001 Campion Pinot Noir Los Carneros California. 13.6% alcohol. $13.50 per glass at Endless Vines.

Clear red color, medium hue, delicate aroma of spice and fruit, complex tastes of spice, fruit and light earthen notes, medium mouth feel, restrained oak, mild acidity and tannins but with good stuffings, long finish with hints of fruit, spice, earth and hints of chocolate. A very different style from the big California fruit forward style -- I guessed that this was from Oregon -- a very pleasant surprise. 4*.

Regards, Bob

Notes:

Great label.

I noticed they used some grapes from Stanly Ranch. I think Saintsbury is also making a Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir. Or was it Greg Lafollette at Tandem?
