2010 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard Red Mountain
Reading back thru CT notes over the last 18 months, much to refute: this wine is not a fruitbomb, it is not fully resolved and mature, and it does not drink 'hot'. At least, not after a 6-8 hour decant. Rather, RWSTORER's note from 18 months ago most accurately describes what we drank: vivid blackberry fruit, coffee and spice supported by firm yet elegant tannins. Though it has obviously benefitted from 11 years in bottle, it doesn't show its age. Rather it's aging like a 1st or 2nd growth Bordeaux--this will be a 20-30 year wine and as such one of the most impressive Washington wines in recent memory. Wines of this substance are rarely made here.
2018 Jules Taylor Sauvignon Blanc OTQ Marlborough
The wilder aspects of the wild yeast are tamer now than a year ago, natch, but the wine still impresses.
2016 Les Vignobles Foncalieu Merlot L'Enigme de Foncalieu Vin de Pays d'Oc
95% Merlot in a Jura-esque shaped bottle. Balanced fruit, drinks like a good Bordeaux Sup. Great for the price a friend paid ($16).
2012 Obelisco Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Electrum Obelisco Estate Vineyard Red Mountain
Has gracefully softened into a secondary stage. Primary fruit's muted and seamlessly blended with spice, tobacco, and leathery notes.
