Tasted these three over the last few days:

AloisLageder Schiava Dd'OC: Sudtirol/AltoAdige (10.5%; DemeterCertified; dalla Terra Wnry Direct) Magre 2020: Very light/dark rose color; very fragrant floral/rose petal/cherry/Schiava rather Pinotish light earthy/loamy light pencilly/oak quite pretty aromatic nose; fairly tart/tangy fairly strong Pinotish/bright/floral/rose petal/cherry bit earthy/loamy some complex flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long bright cherry/rose petal/floral/Schiava some earthy/loamy finish w/ light whispy tannins; quite a pretty/lightweight Schiavabut a bit on the simple side; one step up over a rose at a very fair price. $19.00 (KK)

Heinrich Mayr Nusserhof Elda VinoRosso (Schiava; 12%) Bozen/Sudtirol NV (L2014): Med.light color; strong Schiava/floral/rose petal/violets/alpine flowers some earthy/dusty/loamy quite pretty/fragrant Pinotish-like bit complex nose; fairly tart/tangy rather metallic/steely rather earthy/dusty/loamy/root cellar some floral/rose petal classic lightweight Schiava somewhat alpine floral bit complex quite pretty/Pinotish flavor w/ light gentle tannins; long rather earthy/loamy/dusty lightly floral/Schiava/rose petal/violets rather pretty/Alpine finish w/ light gentle tannins; a rather lightweight/Pinotish/Alpine earthy expression of Schiava; quite pretty but pricey for just a hefty rose; no signs of natty character whatsoever. $41.50 (KK)

Heinrich Mayr Nusserhof Dd'OC: Sudtirol Lagrein Riserva (13%; L18; Louis/Dressner) 2015: Med.dark color; swtrong floral/lilacs/plummy/boysenberry/bit licorice light earthy/dusty/bit loamy bit complex very attractive nose; lightly tart fairly rich/lush strong plummy/Lagrein/boysenberry/bit licorice lightly earthy/loamy/root cellar some complex flavor w/ ight ripe tannins; very long rich/ripe/lush strong plummy/boysenberry/Lagrein/licorice slight pungent bit earthy/loamy some complex finish w/ light ripe bit tangy tannins; a pretty classic expression of Sudtirol Lagrein but more interesting than most; no signs of natty character whatsoever. $43.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Schiava is a grape, thought to be of Slavic origins, found mostly in the Trentino/AltoAdige, where it is also known as Vernatsch. Grown in Germany in the Wurttenberg area where it is called Trollinger. A variety that appears to be on the decline. The Mayr is called simply Elda because the variety is not recognized in the Bolzen region, as I understand. No apparent DNA work has been done on the variety.
Of these two, I much preferred the Mayr for more depth & intensity & interest & much more earthy/loamy character.

2. Lagrein: Is a variety native to the Sudtirol. It is a descendent of Teroldego and related to Syrah.

3. The Heinrich Mayr wines are certified "natural" wines, yet they show no signs of natty/unclean character whatsoever. Goes to show that "natural" wines don't have to be natty/unclean/hantavirus loaded.
