Tried this last weekend from my new Drew shipment:
1. Drew Syrah PerliVnyd/MendoRidge (12.8%; 5% Viog cofrmtd; 23 yr od vnyd; 100% McDowell Slctn; "best Perli Syrah we have made to date": JD; 100% whole cluster; 18 mo. in neutral Fr.oak; Drk: 2021-2032: JD) 2019: Med.dark color; very strong floral/Syrah/violets/blackberry/Syrah/very spicy rather Rhonish/whole-cluster/peppery some cold-climate/black pepper light pencilly/oak fairly complex lovely perfumed nose; quite tart/tangy very strong blackberry/Syrah/floral/violets rather Rhonish/w-c/peppery/roasted/bit smoked meats light toasty/oak slight earthy/dusty fairly complex flavor w/ modest tangy tannins; very long/lingering strong blackberry/Syrah/floral some w-c/Rhonish/roasted fairly tart finish w/ some tangy tannins; a bit on the tight/lean side right now but loads of Rhonish character and plenty of flavor for a modest alcohol. $55.00/$46.75

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I like both of the Drew Syrahs (Perli & Valenti vnyds) quite a lot...some of my favorites. The Pinots are also excellent but not all that distinctive one from the other. I would agree w/ Jason that this may be his finest Perli Syrah yet.
