WTN: Lagier-Meredith Mondeuse '19....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Nov 23, 2021 6:00 pm

My new shipment from L-M arrived last week, so cracked last night:
1. Lagier-Meredith Mondeuse Mt.Veeder/NapaVlly (14.0%; www.LagierMeredith.com) Napa 2019: Very dark color; very strong herbal/thyme/rosemary/pungent/Mondeuse bit blackberry/spicy some toasty/Fr.oak slight Alpine/floral/violets bit dusty/earthy rather complex lovely nose; rather tart some earthy/rustic strong herbal/thyme/rosemary bit blackberry/black cherry some toasty/Fr.oak/pencilly fairly complex bit rustic flavor w/ some chewey tannins; very long/lingering structured strong herbal/thyme/rosemary/Mondeuse slight floral/violets some blackberry/black cherry some pencilly/Fr.oak fairly complex finish w/ some tannins; still needs 2-8 yrs; much the same herbal/pungent character of a Savoie Mondeuse but less earthy/rustic/more structured character & more fruit & oak; a terrific expression of Mondeuse. $42.00

And a wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Steve & Carole's Mondeuse is always one of my favorite wines. A world-class expression of Mondeuse. Because of a misreading of the map of the Jackson vnyd from the late 1800's, this variety was long identified as Refosco by FPS. Only until they did the DNA on their "Refosco" did they realize they had Mondeuse instead.
