WTN: I didn’t know you were called Denis

  • 2002 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (12/5/2021)
Last minute replacement for a corked bottle, so the first hour or so I will discount. That said, the following 90 minutes showed a wine that remained hard and unbalanced. There were glimpses of potential, but every time a complex nuance poked its nose out the tannins chopped it off. Three hours after opening it was still hard as a rock.

I have one more, and little hope that it will suddenly turn into a swan.

Too bad, I've had 2002 Bachelet basic Bourgognes recently that had some swanlike qualities..

I'm willing to wait. There's plenty of other stuff to drink in the mean time.
