First off, this is my all time favorite wine label. El Jaleo has enthralled me since I first saw it decades ago at the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. Oh yeah, the wine is really good too. Dusky red color with a pale rim, the aromatics mirror that, with gentle yet persistent notes of rose petal, dried cherry and cinnamon dusted jerky. The spice and cherry notes dominate the palate, with acidity providing more structure than tannin. This feels like a near to medium term aged, rather than one of those ESJ wines that is never quite fully mature. Of course I have been fooled before, and will be again.
