Tried this GSM blend w/ Susan on Sat:
1. Drew TheOrnbaun MendoRidge (13.9%; 58% PerliVnyd/42% ValentiVnyd; 80% Syrah/Clones #1, #877, McDowell;
16% Zin; 4% Viognier; 12% whole cluster; Drk: now-2019: JD) 2012
: Dark color w/ some bricking; strong black cherry/blackberry/Syrah/bit licorice light earthy/spicy slight cedary/pencilly strong toasty/oak complex/mature nose; fairly tart/tangy/bit metallic smoe black cherry/blackberry/Syrah/bit earthy/licorice fully mature & then some complex oldSyrah bit rough/rustic flavor w/ some drying tannins; very long bit rough/rustic some blackberry/Syrah/licorice strong toasty/oak bit drying finish w/ some rough/hard tannins; starting to dry out & show that metallic character but tannins not yet resolved; not going to get any better. $26.50

1. I was a bit disappointed in the GSM blend. I was expecting it to still have some life. Smelled perfectly nice but pretty tired on the palate. A wine that didn't outlive its tannins.
