2014 L. Aubry Fils Champagne Le Nombre d'Or Campanae Veteres Vites Brut - France, Champagne (7/9/2022)
Always an interesting wine, and not just for the oddball blend (lots of Fromenteau and Petit Meslier in the mix). Still quite young and bracing, but showing a toasty character along with a distinct note of Ginger Gold apple. Lovely to have something come through so clearly and specifically. While not a bottle I would reach for if I just wanted “Champagne”, it is both delicious and engaging. Should age well given ample depth and excellent acidity. Ridiculous value at the $50 I paid.
